Card Activity

Every card keeps its own history, so you can see who moved it and what they changed without asking around.

Every card keeps a history of its own: who made it, who moved it from column to column, who set or cleared its fields, and when. Open a card and pick its Activity tab to read it. It answers "who moved this?" for one card; it isn't a log of the whole plan, and it doesn't undo anything (use Undo for that).

Open a Card's Activity

Open a card and pick Activity, the last of its tabs. Every card has it, whatever its card type holds, so a type with one tab now shows two. On a phone, Activity sits just before Details. A card always opens on its first tab, so the history is only read when you pick Activity.

What It Shows

The newest changes come first, in groups by day: Today, Yesterday, then the date ("Mon 27 Oct"). Down the left runs a thin line; each person's run of changes hangs from their picture, with their name (You for yourself) and the time.

Each change is one short line with a small glyph for its kind:

  • Created this card, and the column it started in ("Created this card in To Do").
  • Moved from one column to another ("Moved In Progress → Review").
  • Set, changed or cleared a field ("Set Priority to High", "Changed Due Date 3 Oct → 10 Oct", "Cleared Estimate"). A long value, such as the description or a checklist, is named rather than copied ("Edited the Description").
  • Renamed, changed type, flagged and unflagged, archived and restored, trashed and restored from the Trash.

Statuses show as chips with a dot in their stage's colour, priorities in the priority's own colour. The old value shows before the arrow when the card's history still holds it. Changes one person makes within a minute read as one entry, and a change made and taken back inside that minute (a move there and back, a flag on and off) drops out.

  • Times: changes from today say how long ago ("2h ago"), older ones the time of day ("14:32"). Hover a time for the exact date and time.
  • Long histories: the first 20 entries show, then Show N More brings the rest. An entry with more than three changes shows three and Show N More Changes.
  • Undo and redo: a change someone took back with Undo ends with (Undo), so a card moving back reads as a person taking their change back.
  • AI agents: a change made by an AI tool through the MCP server, the CLI or the API carries the AI sparkle beside the name, worded by what it did: Transitioned by AI for a move, Created by AI, Edited by AI, Renamed by AI, Trashed by AI, Archived by AI, Restored by AI, Flagged by AI or Unflagged by AI, and Changed by AI when it did several kinds of thing.
  • Forms: a card made from a form response says so.
  • Deleted accounts read Deleted account.

What It Leaves Out

Activity is about changes someone would ask about, so it leaves out a card's place within its column, the dots of a vote, and its comment threads, which have their own place on the card. A card's history never travels with it: a duplicate, a copied plan or an imported card starts with none.

How Long It Keeps

A card keeps its newest 200 entries, none older than 180 days. Trashing or archiving a card keeps its history; deleting it for good from the Trash deletes the history with it. A card made before history was kept, or with nothing left in that window, says No Activity Yet.

Plans in This Browser keep no card history: their Activity tab says No Activity in This Browser. Save the plan to your account to start keeping it.

If the history can't be read (you've lost your connection, say), the tab says Couldn't Load Activity, with Try Again.

Who Can See It

Everyone who can open the card reads its Activity, Viewers included. Nobody writes it or edits it: the plan records each change as it is made. Someone on a link to one tab sees the history only of the cards that tab shows.
