Zoom Controls

Make a Sheet's cells larger or smaller, step by step or to a preset level.

The zoom controls appear in the bottom-right corner on a Sheet tab, at the end of the cluster after Undo and Redo, the card buttons and Style. They make the sheet's cells larger or smaller. Boards, Dashboards and Forms fit their tab, so those tabs have no zoom controls.

The zoom cluster: step out, the current level, step in, with the preset popover open above.

The controls

  • Zoom out / Zoom in: step 10% smaller or larger.
  • The percentage button: shows the current level. Click it to go back to 100%. Hover it for a popover of preset levels (50%, 75%, 100%, 125% and 150%) and pick one to jump straight there.

A sheet zooms from 50% to 200%. The column letters, row numbers and cells grow and shrink together, while the toolbar and formula bar keep their size, and everything works as it does at 100%. Zoom is your own view: it is never saved or shared, and the sheet opens at 100% next time.

From the trackpad and mouse

Hold ⌘ (Ctrl on Windows and Linux) and scroll, or pinch on a trackpad, to zoom smoothly within the same range.

On a phone and in zen mode

On a phone the zoom buttons and the percentage are dropped to save space: pinch to zoom, and a Fit button puts the sheet back to 100%. In Zen mode the zoom controls stay, joined by an Exit zen mode button.
